Job Overview:
Primary function is the focus of classroom support and ensuring curriculum implementation within the program; strong focus on educational aspect of the Academy. The classroom support manager role exists to provide support to teachers in the classroom with training and implementation of curriculum, lesson planning, family communication, support with behaviors and children with ICCPP (Individual Child Care Program Plan), ensure class schedules and routines are followed and developmentally appropriate, and ensuring that health & safety is being maintained through DHS (Department of Human Services) Rule 3, Early Childhood Academy policies and procedures, and health & safety guidelines required by MN Health Nurse and other professionals. Additionally, CSM will assist with other educational Academy objectives such as program accreditation, bi-yearly conferences, and more as delegated by supervisors and as fits appropriately with role. The Classroom Support Manager, while not in a Director role, will be third in charge in the absence of the Academy Director and Assistant Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Partner with the local school district(s) (family support systems-like Help me Grow)
Oversees the planning and implementation of Camp Academy. Including marketing, in-house and excursions, enrollment, and activities. Assist Director/Assistant Director in hiring Summer Teacher for this role.
Supports classrooms through modeling and coaching.
Ensures daily schedules, lesson plans, routines, curriculum, and activities are being carried out within the classrooms.
Ensures education and activities provided by staff promote cognitive, social, and emotional development and support need for ensuring accessibly, culturally diverse, and appropriate, and differentiate if needed.
Create, track, update, ensure proper implementation of ICCPPs (Individual Child Care Program Plan)
Help support classroom staff with training, education, coaching, and implementation of ICCPPs, support plans, and behavior/needs guidance
Assist the Director in hiring and onboarding regarding classroom training, such as on classroom duties, responsibilities, and curriculum expectations.
Creates a clean and sanitary facility that meets or exceeds all licensing regulations and health standards.
Supervise, guide, and delegate tasks to supporting teachers that encourage their personal and professional growth
Monitors classroom and Academy supplies utilized for curriculum.
Assists in the plans and participates in hosting in-house and community events (including trainings and staff meetings)
This position will be scheduled part time in the classroom or more as needed for coverage. The Classroom Support Manager is the first administrative employee scheduled into a classroom in case of staff absences or to meet ratio.
Responsible for documentation and spreadsheets delegated by Director necessary for the Academies classroom function and success.
Support teaching staff with writing and compiling of individual records of each child’s development, including daily observations, attendance, incident and behavior reports, conference assessments, and other related reports
Supports the Academy in becoming Parent Aware rated or other accreditation programs.
Support and model to classroom staff ways to manage groups of children, understand childhood development, and have the skills to teach establishment of classroom routines
Ensure licensing rules are followed and implemented correctly in each classroom and followed by the employees
Is comfortable with all age groups and shows an understanding of how to carry out each classroom’s schedules and routines.
Provide training and expectations for use of parent communication app; regularly checks that expectations are being met.
Accepts and performs other duties as assigned by Director to ensure the needs of the Academy are met.
Supervisory & Professional Expectations
Complete and pass DHS background check
Up to date Develop membership.
Adheres to all program policies and leads by example.
Follows all MN DHS Rule 3 Rules and Regulations
Provides excellent guest service for employees, existing families, touring/inquiring families, vendors, supervisors, owners, and executives, etc.
Will maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the Academy. (employees, families & children, ECA business and financial, etc.)
Actively participates in on-going personal professional development to ensure continuous program quality improvement.
Flexibility: Understands that your work schedule may fluctuate or change to meet Academy needs.
Communicates effectively and respectfully with all employees.
Positively takes direction and feedback from Academy Director and/or Assistant Director.
Ability to support and influence others while working in a team
Understands that this position is not a full-time office administrative position.
Has a positive attitude while in the office and in classrooms.
Promotes a positive culture in the workplace and leads by example.
Environmental & Physical Factors
Can lift up to 50lbs.
Can bend and squat to engage with children of all ages.
Can tolerate prolonged sitting on floor and frequent bending, standing, for extended periods of time
Work is mainly performed indoors, but some is required outdoors in varying weather types.
Experience & Qualifications:
2-3 years of Early Childcare Teacher experience in a licensed Childcare Center
Strong experience in state licensing regulations, staffing, enrollment, and budget management
Demonstrated highly effective organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
Responsible for taking the considerations of Teachers, administration, and parents into account and using those preferences to craft educational structures that allow the students to learn. Lead Teachers still conduct their classes like any other Teacher, but they also have additional responsibilities.
Strong commitment to building positive relationships with families and the community
Possess the following skills: Communication, Strong teaching abilities, Leadership skills, Empathy, Decision-making skills, Organizational skills, Conflict resolution skill
Required: Associate’s in early childhood education/CDA Child Development Associate
Preferred: 1-3 years of lead Early Childcare Lead Teacher, bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Primary Education, or in a related field
