Workflow Series: The Kingdom of Coding

Workflow | May 29, 2019

Your previous visit to the Island of Intake has prepared you well for your next visit to the Kingdom of Coding! You’ve sent in your official college transcript and copies of your training certificates. So, what’s next? As we continue our journey, let’s explore what happens after your documents depart from the Island of Intake.

All aboard! If you remember correctly, while documents are on the Island of Intake, they are scanned and electronically stored. After their departure from Intake, they travel to the Kingdom of Coding! Coding is a wonderous land all documents visit to be thoroughly evaluated before the information is entered on your Develop account.

As you know, Achieve can only review and enter documents after you apply for or renew your membership in Develop. If you sent documents to Achieve without submitting your application, those documents are stuck at the port of entry (your file) waiting for you to apply in Develop; your documents do not get their one-way ticket to the Kingdom of Coding.

Once Achieve is notified by Develop of your complete application submission with documents, our intake department electronically sends your documents non-stop to our coding department. Our coding staff retrieves documents based on the application submission date. All applications are processed in date order based on the date your documents were received. Each electronically stored document is manually reviewed and evaluated by coding staff to see if it meets the Acceptable Documentation policy requirements.

Coding Staff

Achieve staff who currently code documents include: Julia, Nicky, Hyewon, Sheemika, and Dani.

Coding staff are heavily trained on the Minnesota Knowledge and Competency Framework for Early Childhood Professionals as well as the Acceptable Documentation policy. The work of each coder is very detailed and carried out with the goal of helping each applicant reach the highest Career Lattice step possible. Using the resources listed above, along with a detailed checklist of items to look for on each type of document received, the coder manually marks each document as acceptable or not. Coders use circles, underlines, and highlighting tools to identify Develop required information. This process ensures nothing gets missed when your documents reach our application entry department.

Certain Coding Staff members also go through special training to evaluate your college transcripts using Achieve’s Higher Education Coursework Policy as a guide. They review the course descriptions and outlines of course details through partnerships with colleges and universities. This work ensures your college degree(s) and all acceptable semester credits are recognized for entry on your Develop profile and count toward your Career Lattice Step.

After our coders complete their manual review of each and every document you send, your documents travel to the Empire of Entering.

Stay tuned…the workflow adventure will continue!
