This position is for Osseo Area Schools’ new site, Aspen Ridge Elementary School, which will officially open for the 2026-27 school year. The start date for the Administrative Professional position is January 5, 2026.
This position is open for applications until Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Interviews will take place on October 27 and 28.
Job Summary
To inspire and prepare each and every scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams, contribute to the community, and engage in a lifetime of learning. The Administrative Professional at Aspen Ridge Elementary School provides in-depth secretarial and clerical support to the principal and staff. This role is critical in building a welcoming and supportive culture from day one, acting as the primary point of contact for students, staff, families, and the wider community. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter who can build administrative systems and procedures from the ground up, with a major emphasis on the organization and coordination of all internal clerical office functions.
Key Responsibilities
Administrative Support & Organization
Provide extensive secretarial and clerical support to the principal and school staff, including typing, filing, and duplicating materials.
Maintain a high level of organization for all general files to ensure easy and accessible access.
Direct substitute teachers to appropriate classrooms, provide them with schedules, and collect end-of-day reports.
Maintain records of staff absences and process all required personnel forms.
Respond to minor health concerns during the absence of the health specialist.
Assist in the initial office setup and organization, including creating new filing systems (digital and paper) and establishing communication systems.
Student & Family Support
Greet visitors and serve as a liaison between the principal, staff, students, parents, and the general public.
Enroll and withdraw students, maintain accurate and confidential student records, and request records for new students.
Organize and prepare scheduling materials for parent-teacher conferences and other events.
Provide community resource information to families as needed.
Assist with community liaison duties, helping families transition smoothly to the new school.
Communication & Community Building
Answer phones and direct calls, serving as the primary representative of the school.
Design occasional flyers, signage, and other communication materials for special school events.
Assist in planning and coordinating school events, including the grand opening, open house, and other large-scale functions.
Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including email, social media, and newsletters.
Prepare and distribute parent communications through multiple platforms (e.g., Talking Points, Blackboard).
Possess a personality of love, compassion, joy, and humor to help build a strong, positive culture.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Essential Experience & Skills
Extensive Experience: Proven record of successfully managing the administrative functions of an elementary school as a head secretary or administrative assistant.
Project Management & System Design: Demonstrated ability to manage complex, long-term projects and design and implement new administrative processes and procedures from scratch.
Technology Proficiency: Advanced skills in relevant software, including student information systems (e.g., Synergy), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, Access), Google Suite, and various communication platforms.
Documentation & Record Keeping: Meticulous organizational skills with experience in creating and maintaining accurate records from the very beginning.

Salary: Class 4-A, $27.36 to $29.81 hourly (for 2025-26 school year)
Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 hours/day
Bargaining unit: Osseo Administrative Professionals (OAP)
Job type: full-time, 219 workdays/year
Note: The work year calendar for both the 2025-26 school year and 2026-27 school year will be flexible to accommodate the need for additional work time during the summer months, which is needed to prepare for the opening of the new school. The individual hired into this position will work with the principal to set a calendar that will support the needs for the work leading up to the opening and meet the requirements of the 219 day contract.
